CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

DANCE RESEARCH NRW 2014
#14 Dortmund (Festival FAVORITEN 2014)
#15 Düsseldorf (Tanzhaus NRW, WELTKUNSTZIMMER/HPZ Stiftung)

The NRW KULTURsekretariat is offering 6–12 week performing arts residencies for dancers, choreographers, performers and musicians. These are to be used for thematic research projects, which should not be focused on a production.

RESEARCH PERIOD
Between August and November 2014. The findings of each project will be presented at the end of the research period at public events.

THEMES
There will be an overarching title for each dance research project based on its location.

The theme of the Tanzrecherche NRW #14 project in Dortmund is the location and navigation in space and time. It is an invitation on a quest for appropriate positioning strategies; and an inquiry into new modes of movement, presence, transgression.

The thematic focus of Tanzrecherche NRW #15 in Düsseldorf is an up-to-date view of the relationship between dance and music. The two genres share the term “composition”, which thus forms a consciously broad range of artistic definition.

OFFERED
Rent-free accommodation for 1–2 people, plus a grant of up to €7,500, according to the nature and scope of the research project. Personal support, mentoring and guidance. The NRW KULTURsekretariat will also provide access to its institutions and experts. Should any production emerge from the research projects, the Kultursekretariat will support any performances staged in NRW.

JURY
Madeleine Ritter, Vera Sander und Eckhard Thiemann

ONLINE APPLICATIONS ONLY
Only applications submitted online with a description of the proposed research, references and a CV will be accepted.

Closing date: 15 February 2014.
