Pioneer Works Technology Residency Program
Inspired by the art/technology collaborations that have been occurring since the early days of the foundation, the Tech Residency program provides dedicated space, equipment, and instructional resources to creative technologists who fall outside the traditional definition of their practice. These artists employ the newest and most undefined media, techniques, software and hardware as they carve a path to the future of creative practice.
Started in early 2015 by Pioneer Works’ Technology Integrator David Sheinkopf, the program has welcomed residents in fields including virtual reality and computer vision, data visualization and analysis, programmable textile manufacturing, interactive performance, computer neural networks, and multichannel video and sound. Residents have access to our laser cutter, 3D printing and scanning facilities, and electronics shop.
Since this residency is housed in Pioneer Works’ shared lab space, the length of each residency ranges from 4-6 weeks based on the scope of the project and the work schedule of the resident.
