Maryam Farnaz Rostami At SOME THING

LIKE THIS is a series of three queerly-made art moments, by some of San Francisco’s most notably queer performance makers. Each artist demonstrates composition and transmission in contorted ways that mess with notions of beauty, catharsis, and success . Additionally, this program poses the question of what possibly comprises a queer art-making methodology in this time and place; one where queerness is not primarily a signifier of just sexualities and gender expressions, but instead suggests an aesthetic of breakage, of a DIY sensibility of autonomy, and even perhaps of just…simplicity. Like This will provide a small but steady look into the notoriously buzzing and growing community of local dance and performance artists who are practicing queerness as way more than just a personal politic.
