Opportunities: Site Specific and Studio Residencies at Arts@Renaissance (Brooklyn, NYC)

Site Specific and Studio Residencies Available

Arts@Renaissance is an innovative 4,500 square foot arts space in the restored outpatient building of the Greenpoint Hospital that serves as a bridge between North Brooklyn’s vibrant long-term communities and the area’s emerging creative population through the development of new multi-disciplinary work, residencies, workshops, and collaborative neighborhood art projects.

St. Nicks Alliance founded A@R in 2010 with the purpose of uniting artists and other creative members of the North Brooklyn community with its existing low and middle income constituents. A@R is a natural extension of the housing, youth, health, employment and community preservation services that St. Nicks has provided in the neighborhood since 1975.

Arts@Renaissance encompasses the entire garden level of the Greenpoint Renaissance Center and includes eight distinct rooms including a 1,300 square foot central multi-use space, studios, and an 800 square foot courtyard.

A@R offers two residency programs:

A site-specific residency that empowers multi-disciplinary artists to transform the space by creating new work that is relevant to the broader North Brooklyn community and includes public events. This residency is open to all New York City residents.

A studio residency that provides free studio space to North Brooklyn artists to further their practice. This residency is limited to artists from the neighborhoods of Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick.

A@R seeks proposals for the space from artists, curators, and organizations. We seek proposals with strong artistic merit that are grounded in a relevancy to the broader North Brooklyn community.  The space can be used for work of any discipline including but not limited to performance, dance, theater, installation, visual arts, sculpture, film, media, arts in education and immersive work. We encourage work that incorporates multiple disciplines.

A@R provides access and utilization of the space from 7a- 10p, 7 days a week and utilization of the space for all events and performances outside of normal business hours; use of equipment including drills, paint, staff assistance on Monday-Friday 9a- 5p; marketing to A@R’s existing list and outreach to press for events including a large poster at the space.
