♦ MPA-B PROGRAMME: May 2nd ♦

Today’s programme kicks off with a 6 day-long workshop and a 96 hour-long site-specific performance, curated by MPA-B 2013 Associate Curator Camilla Graff Junior, as part of her CROSSING CONTEXT, NEUKÖLLN curatorial series (http://www.mpa-b.org/camilla-graff-junior.html). Titled GENDER AND THE CITY (http://www.facebook.com/events/141359832704061), the workshop is led by urban-designer Pascale Lapalud and sociologist Chris Blache who will take as their stating point the fact that the city is, for the most part, male created and male occupied and will invite participants to go out and investigate the public space of Neukölln from a gender-perspective. Meanwhile Christine Dilmi will install her tent at Richardplatz for FIL CONDUCTEUR (http://www.facebook.com/events/531271370252957) and from 14:00 and over the course of 96 hours and together with the public entering into dialogue with her, she will develop a “connecting thread.” 

The programme continues with Catherine D’Avril who from May 2nd to May 10th will challenge passengers of Berlin’s public transport to sustain her stare in a subtle game that defies social norms and behavioural codes as part of her performance project FIXATION #01. Nuno Vicente begins his project WATER running from May 2-22nd, during which he will take a daily picture of himself at the photoautomat machine at Kottbusser Tor and then wash the created images in the Maybachufer everyday at dawn. All resulting images will be collected in a bucket and then displayed into a final exhibition. The evening will be graced with BRICK MOON a performance by Eru and Seven of Eglise, in collaboration with Nathalie Mba Bikoro, who will occupy the Mindpirates Vereinsheim in the presence of the Sideral Moon performed by Eru (Alexander Rues) and reflecting on Earth-star constellations of the past with live performance art and experimental sounds (free entry / 19:00 sharp). And finally, the SURREALIST TAXI, may be or not roaming the streets of Berlin this month chronicling the rise of the middle classes as they invade the city with fair-trade coffee and chi-chi retro clothes.
