♦ MPA-B PROGRAMME: May 19th ♦

Skip the pseudo burritos, exotic(iced) dancers and agitated crowds of the Karnival der Kulturen, and head instead to the real world of MPA-B.

This is our Sunday programme.

“Every cloud has a silver lining”, and in today’s grey sky the organisers of CUT INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL, can say that out loud. Due to technical problems they experienced yesterday, which meant they had to cancel part of their Saturday’s festival line up, today’s closing programme at BLO Atelier will lead the festival into an even grander GRAND FINALE, with more artists added to this performance bonanza evening that starts at 17:00 and ends in the wee hours with a not-to-be-missed party (entrance 8/10€).

From 15:00 at Alexanderplatz you will find Hector Canonge performing SUD.AKA a public durational performance which explores the attitudes, ideas and treatment of immigrants in major urban centers. From “sudaca,” a made-up word used to insult South American immigrants in Spain, Hector appropriates and transforms it into SUD (South) and AKA (Also Known As) to resist and call attention to stereotypes. The performance continues at 1630 at Brandenburg Tor.

Momentum in Kunstquartier Bethanien brings the third installment of its Sunday performance series titled WORKS ON PAPER which brings together a diverse group of international artists based in Berlin, and invites them to work on paper and with paper to activate all the possibilities of the medium in unexpected ways. Today’s programme presents the work of Kirsten Palz, “Manuals for R” (17:00 – 17:15), Joyce Clay, “Book I” (17:30 – 18:00) and Mariana Hahn, “Empress of Sorrow” (18:15 – 19:00).
