♦ MPA-B PROGRAMME: May 25th ♦

25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st: these are the last seven days remaining on the MPA-B programme! Make the most of them, and start from today with a day PACKED with performance art activities, workshops, interventions and performances to cater for all tastes and adventurous spirits. 
Despite the weather, several artists from today’s programme will take to the streets of Berlin to carry out a variety of site-specific interventions. Pack your umbrella and waterproof gear and show them support! 

And now…in chronological order:

Today, two 2 day-long workshops with the artists from the SHADOWS series curated by Laura Biagioni will take place consecutively at N.K. project space. Join them both! From 11:00-15:00 you can develop a relational performance through the conceptual analysis of the creative process, with the artists from the Mali Weil group during a workshop titled RELATIONAL MACHINES FOR EPHEMERAL EXPERIENCES (cost €50 for both days). And from 16:00-21:00 you can join Stratofyzika and their workshop SHADOWS OF aiKia where you will learn how to develop your very own movement-based interactive audio-visual performance (cost €50 for both days).

From 11:00 to 14:00 MYPERFORMANCE3102, organised by Dirk Thorwarth returns to the borough of Neukölln with performance art interventions in the public sphere at Herrfurthplatz with: Anders Zettelmann, Frank Homeyer, Grit Lindau, Julie Jaffrenou, Patrick Jambon, Richard Raabensaat, Stephanie Hanna, Yoto + many more.

PANIK FOR BRUNCH (11:00-13:00 – 2€) + PANINK FOR OPEN FLOOR (15:30-18:00 – 2€) continue on their roster of brunches and interactive performances with a special weekend programme including a networking session with the PAN Vienna group and guests, during which “you will get closer for a while, learn from each and look at how performance art positions itself in networks and how it uses, converts, sabotages and de-constructs networks”.

From 13:00 to 16:00 at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, Joseph Patricio brings his final street intervention BIG AND BITE SIZE, during which he will offer free street food to the public and thematize a different discourse about dimension (of monuments) and if size really matters.

From 15:00 at Platz der Republik in front of the Bundestag, Stefan Riebel continues with his series of live actions titled WAITING in which he will wait for occurrences that he doesn’t not know of yet and wait until there is something that was worth waiting for.

After spending three weeks exploring the area around Tacheles, Mariana Delgado concludes her investigations today as part of her project titled ARTIST IN EXHBITION with a street action that will start at 15:00 at Monbijoupark (near bronze sculpture) – then Tacheles (main entrance – now closed door) – then Tacheles back door (sculpture garden) – then Bodenmuseum (via either Canal, Tango and Commedia) and back to Monbijoupark.

Artist Dolanbay continues his 4 day-long space intervention at Grüntaler9 from 15:00-21:00 (2€), with UNTITLED SINGULAR ACT, in which the artist will examine the Singularity of an act within the mode of his artistic practice.

A shop window in Neukölln at Ganghofer Str. 6, returns to entice passersby for one last time in SUPPER III form the +|+|+ series by Associate Curator Stephanie Hanna in collaboration with Ariane Blankenburg. In Supper III, French artist Alexine Chanel will analyse and pointedly dissect the art world. Twelve dinner guests, all artists, will take part in a 12-course meal. The items on the menu are all fake and composed of sculptures of increasing size, coloured and organized in the order of the spectrum of light. The performance starts at 16:00 until 18:00.

PIC – PIECES IN CHAIN, an event around Performance Art, Documentation and Scores curated and organized by Bassano Bonelli Bassano, Barbara Marcel, Camila Rhodi, Maicyra Leão and Vera Sofia Mota, and featuring different artists each day, continues for a third day at Altes Finanzamt from 16:00 to 23:00. Today’s artists are: Moritz Geiser, Valentina Jager, Maicyra Leão, Camila Bastos & Maria Fernanda Lopes, Karl Thorbergsson and Kirsty Kross.

From 17:00 a lecture by Helge Meyer on the legendary Black Market International group (the lecture will be in German), takes place at Weissensee Kunsthochschule during the series WATCHING A CAT WATCHING A MOUSE HOLE curated by Patrycja German and Prof. Thaddäus Hüppi (lab for tomorrow).

LIVE ART REVIEW, curated by (CON)TEMPORARY SPACE-TIME will feature performances by international artists 蘇宇燊 Su Yu-Shen, 鄭詩雋 Cheng Shih-chun, Anya Liftig, Valerie Kuehne, Brian McCorkle and Esther Neff (Panoply Performance Lab) and a review/interview panel with Jörn J. Burmester, Tiny Domingos, Francesca Romana Ciardi and Lan Hungh. The event kicks off at 17:00 at Liebig12 in F’schain and go on until 22:00 (entrance free).

BRIDGES AND NON-BRIDGES OF PERFORMANCE ART AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE, a month-long programme by Agora Collective, brings you today a performance by Thelma Bonavita titled FERVO starting at 19:00, a Picnic Performative Evening or a frame of work without direction but with intention of continuity, without beginning or end but with axes of occurrence, without steps or stages but with transitory states. To indulge yourself with Fervo, Please bring something to take part of the picnic. Anything: drinks, snacks, towel, umbrella, plastic bag. Whatever you wish.

For MPA-B 2013, Mess Collective will collaborate with international tattooist and performance artists to create a shrine for a contemporary spirituality at AKA Gallery. Over the course of a day, Marcus O’Shea will be tattooed by hand in a live ritual using ink made from the ashes of texts found sacred to the artists of the collective. The performance will go from 20:00 to 01:00 (5€ suggested donations).

Caden Manson is a director, media artist, and teacher. He is co-founder of the media ensemble bigartgroup.com and network, blog, and publisher, contemporaryperformance.com. He has co-created, directed, video- and set designed 18 Big Art Group productions. Manson has shown video installations in Austria, Germany, NYC, and Portland; performed PAIN KILLER in Berlin, Singapore and Vietnam; Taught in Berlin, Rome, Paris, Montreal, NYC, and Bern; the ensemble has been co-produced by the Vienna Festival, Festival d’Automne a Paris, Hebbel Am Ufer, Rome’s La Vie de Festival, PS122, and Wexner Center for The Arts. Caden is a 2001 Foundation For Contemporary Art Fellow, is a 2002 Pew Fellow and a 2011 MacDowell Fellow. Writing has been published in PAJ, Theater Magazine, and Theater der Zeit. Caden is currently an associate professor and graduate directing option coordinator of The John Wells Directing Program at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama.
