Performing Arts (Creative Residencies/Residências de Criação)
The deadline for submission of applications ends on April 11th, 2014.
ATALAIA – Friends of Arts and Culture Association, together with the Ourique City Council, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Alentejo, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of the Algarve, announce the opening of submissions for a meeting of creators and students of contemporary performing arts (dance, theater, performance, music, fine arts and multimedia) to show exploratory/ investigative projects within the performing arts.
The projects will be developed between 1st May 2014 and 30th September 2014. The creative residencies are intended to be spaces of conviviality and exchange of knowledge and ideas, between cultural agents and communities (as instruments of the present arts). Between the 1st and 15th of October, all creators will have the opportunity to publicly present/exhibit their work.
The Performing Arts Festival will promote a fellowship amongst creators and communities; a debate and reflective space for the contemplation of the Contemporary Arts of today; a space for exchanging experiences, ideas and different work methods; thus presenting to all participants some of the venues in the region (Ourique, Grandaços, Panóias and Castro Verde) suitable/available for the residencies outcoming work.
Extent of the Competition
A total of six projects will be selected that are deemed apt for artistic residencies and final presentation. The selected projects must be developed within a maximum of three months, between the 1st May and 30th September 2014. Final public presentations will take place between the 1st and 15th October 2014 and in several of the proposed venues.
The proposed projects can involve working with local schools and performing groups, which will be chosen by the author(s). All applications must relate to one specific project and must include at least one activity open to the local community (for development and/or presentation).
