Agnes Nedregard

Agnes Nedregard’s work will focus on the theme of cultural perceptions through a dialog between Argentina and Norway, two countries close to the South and North poles respectively. Looking at our preconceptions in terms of what we find familiar and foreign, her work will explore how actual encounters may alter our views. The notion of opposite poles will follow through Nedregard’s series of performances, workshops and talks expanding to polarity in general: high-low, center-periphery, distance-proximity, and cultural connotations of South and North (usually phrased as North and South).

Nedregard’s presentation in Argentina will open in Buenos Aires with a workshop at Espacio UTAKI on May 23rd, organized by UTAKI’s director Magy Ganiko. This will be followed by a program starting with performances by workshop participants and ending with a solo performance by Agnes Nedregard.

On May 27th and 29th, Nedregard, invited by Soledad Sánchez Goldar from Aún Sin TÍtulo, will introduce her practice at the theater and documentation center DocumentA/Escénicas in the city of Córdoba. Nedregard will give a workshop, open to the public, on the 27th, and perform on the 29th.

On May 31st and June 2nd, Graciela Ovejero Postigo will present Nedregard’s work in Buenos Aires at Peras de Olmo. On May 31st, Nedregard will be performing at Ovejero Postigo’s series Open field / campo abiertO – Laboratorio de acciones 100xSiento along with Opie Boero Imwinkelried. On June 2nd, Nedregard and Imwinkelried will be presenting their projects and leading an open discussion about performance art issues in Norway and France at the Café Mandrágora series, also at Peras de Olmo.

Agnes Nedregard has been working in the performance art field for over ten years. She has performed at a range of venues and festivals in Europe, Asia and North America, including TIPA with Black Market International (Glasgow, Scotland), OPEN Festival (Beijing, China) and FADO (Toronto, Canada).
In addition to her work as an artist, Nedregard is also a performance art instructor, a curator and writer. She has taught at the Theatre Academy of Helsinki, is a founding member of PAB (Performance Art Bergen), and has written for MAAG Magazine (London, NABROAD).

Agnes Nedregard
