Friday 16 January 2015
An evening of performances / 20:00
To find out more about the work being done by international theatremakers currently studying at DasArts, join us on Friday for an evening of performances by Orion Maxted (GB), Agustina Muñoz (AR) & Leila Anderson (SA).

‘DasArts is not a school, it’s a place of radical encounter, with others but foremost with the self.’
Julian Hetzel, theatre-maker, graduated in 2013. Affiliated with SPRING festival. Presented
work in Theater Der Welt, Mannheim and European Capital of Culture, Riga.

Saturday 17 January 2015
A day in the life of DasArts & performances / 14:00 – 23:00 If you are thinking of applying to DasArts, either now or in the future, you probably will want to find out how the course operates, who the students are and what sort of projects they are developing. In that case, join us on Saturday. We have devised a number of ways to present what we do: offering works-in-progress or self-devised mini workshops, screening a DVD about our feedback culture, arranging a ‘curriculum room’ and preparing soup in our kitchen. Performances will be shown in the evening. Entrance is free. Please announce your presence at [email protected]

About DasArts

DasArts is a master’s degree course within the Theatre School of the Amsterdam School of Arts. Our two-year, question-based, residential master’s programme functions as a laboratory and aims to improve the artistic competences of its international students.

Artists studying at DasArts define their goals and gradually explore and adopt the appropriate research methods. Although the focus is on individual development, our main educational strategies revolve around the learning potential of encounters. Exchanges with peers, guest teachers and staff ideally have the character of ‘significant collisions’. By encouraging artists to tell their colleagues about their working processes, we foster ‘professional intimacy’. Both strategies enable important artistic developments and form the basis of our strong international network.

DasArts is a Master of Theatre programme. Theatre is the backdrop: its history and conventions; both the traditions and the avant-garde spirit. Performance is part of this legacy. We consciously bring into our programme practitioners and theoreticians who contribute to the cross-cultural critical environment of the (performing) arts.

This year, an international panel of experts has assessed DasArts as ‘Excellent across the Board’ (vision, learning environment, targeted and achieved learning outcomes). According to the panel, DasArts serves as an example both nationally and internationally due to its challenging, innovative and original teaching environment. The study program me produces passionate and innovative theatre-makers who receive recognition worldwide.
