Description Of Opportunity:
Inverse Performance Art Festival strives to foster local dialogue about performance art on an international scale and build a community of performance artists and supporters. Organized by Cynthia Post Hunt of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Emma Saperstein of San Luis Obispo, California, the festival presents new work and engages local, national, and international communities. Inverse facilitates various forms of engagement: for the space, the artist and the viewer. Inverse provides opportunities for performance work to be cultivated outside of city centers and is devoted to working with new and emerging artists. Inverse is committed to being an inclusive platform and works with artists from around the world at various stages of their careers. Inverse is artist-run, and community supported. In our first year, 2016, Inverse presented work at 9 locations throughout Northwest Arkansas, including museums, the university, privately run galleries, and DIY spaces. 20 performances by 30 participating artists, in 24 hours. Our following year, 2017, Inverse ran two festivals, another one in Northwest Arkansas and one in San Luis Obispo, California. In NWA, Inverse presented work at 6 locations. 20 performances by 30+ participating artists, in 72 hours. In San Luis Obispo, Inverse presented work at 8 locations, including museums, the community college, downtown San Luis Obispo, a city park, and the beach. 14 performances by 15 participating artists, in 72 hours.

This year’s festival will take place in Northwest Arkansas, between April 12-15, 2018.

2. Durational performance (1 to 3 hours)
3. Proposals requiring a development period here in Arkansas (one week or less leading up to festival).
