TEACHBACK/WITHOUT DISTANCE Educational Platform for Dance Practices and Theories in the frame of Antistatic Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance 2018

announces an OPEN CALL for workshop
23-25 April 2018, Sofia/ Bulgaria

 DRAMATURGY AT WORK
on the development of dramaturgical practice in contemporary performance

for art practitioners from the areas of theatre, dance, performance, visual arts and dramaturgy
(priority will be given to international applications from South-East Europe)

Facilitated by: Konstantina Georgelou (performing arts theorist, dramaturge, Lecturer at the ArtEZ Master of Theatre Practices and the University of Utrecht) and Danae Theodoridou (performance-maker and researcher)

How does one work dramaturgically? In this workshop dramaturgy is treated as a practice of ‘working on actions’, shared amongst collaborators and pertaining to actions both in artistic and in sociopolitical environments where we work. Moving beyond divisions and attempts of bridging theory and practice, the dramaturgical is approached as it arises from within enquiry-led artistic processes. A hands-on approach to dramaturgy, where participants are invited to engage in individual and collective tasks, including making, writing, reading and debating. Three days of sharing, revisiting, questioning and developing artistic work through a dramaturgical perspective. Each participant brings in the workshop a specific project they are working on, in order to test inventive tools for the exploration and practice of the otherwise intangible and diverse area of interest that is dramaturgy.

The workshop is offered in the context of a larger research project that led to the book publication The Practice of Dramaturgy (Valiz, 2017), co-edited by Konstantina Georgelou, Efrosini Protopapa and Danae Theodoridou. For more information: https://dramaturgyatwork.wordpress.com
