When: July-September 2023
Deadline: April 30, 2023

Description Of Opportunity:

We are currently seeking applications for digital artist residencies on the topic of “Social Inclusion”!

As part of the Creative-Europe funded project Digital Lab Artist-in Residences (DigiLabAiR), ECC Performance Art is offering three digital artist residencies to develop a performance-for-camera on the topic of social inclusion. An inclusive society is equipped with mechanisms which accommodate diversity, and facilitate/enable people’s active participation in their political, economic and social lives. As such, it over-rides differences of race, gender, class, generation, and geography, and ensures equal opportunities for all to achieve full potential in life, regardless of origin. We are looking for original work to be co-created that uses body-based performance art to critically investigate into the de-facto level of social inclusion that society offers and sheds light on processes of in- and exclusion, disadvantages, and marginalization that remain in place based on one’s identity.

The performance-for-film works will be developed in dialogue with ECC Performance Art through three joint online sessions between all artists and ECC Performance Art director Anja Foerschner as well as one or two individual mentoring sessions between each artist and Anja. The online residencies are a space where the participating artists and mentors work co-creatively. They offer a place for artists from different backgrounds to meet and exchange practices and ideas. Throughout the residency, they offer an opportunity to receive inspiration and feedback throughout the creative process of developing the work.

The resulting films will be showcased in a public exhibition in Venice, Italy in December 2023, and become part of the online platform PAV Performance Art Vid to be launched on that occasion with the aim to generate further revenue for the artists through an ongoing video-on-demand availability.

Each artist will receive a stiped of EUR 800.

Eligibility: European artists born or currently working in the Netherlands.
Applications must be received by April 30, 2023. Virtual interviews will be held between May 15-19, 2023. Recipients will be notified by May 22, 23.
The runtime of the residencies is between July 1 – September 30, 2023 with final works to be submitted no later than September 30.
Only new works to be developed as performance-for-camera on the above-mentioned topic will be considered.
