Bonnie Jean Gabel is a queer director, performance maker, and community organizer specializing in cross-disciplinary collaborations and grassroots media projects. As co-director of LAST CALL they create innovative, multi-platform performances and digital media that document and interpret neglected queer history creating connections between those who lived this history and those who have much at stake if it is forgotten. They are currently a director of the nationally touring performance and social practice project Alleged Lesbian Activities. Their work has been featured on Culturebot, AfterEllen, Autostraddle, The Atlantic’s CityLab, and VICE and is funded by MAP, the Network of Ensemble Theaters, National Performance Network, Platforms Fund, NEFA National Theater Project, and Alternate Roots. They were a Drama League Fall Directing Fellow in 2017, and a Distillery Artist at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center in 2016. Bonnie has studied theater internationally at The Moscow Art Theater, Dah Theater (Serbia), and in South Africa. Their writing has been published in Sinister Wisdom and Pelican Bomb.
