Teatro del Lemming is an experimental theatre company founded in 1987 by Massimo Munaro and Martino Ferrari. Is funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture since 1997. Winner of many awards including Prize Totola, Prize Piccoli Palcoscenici, the UBU prize Giuseppe Bartolucci and Silver
Snowflake at the Sarajevo Winter Festival (http://www.sarajevotimes.com/snowflakes-of-sarajevo-winter/), Teatro del Lemming is recognized as one of the leading groups of the new Italian and European theatre.
In particular, Teatro del Lemming has achieved national relevance thanks to the TETRALOGY ON MYTH AND SPECTATOR, realized between 1996 and 2000. These works have been well reviewed and had strong positive feedbacks from the spectators.
In the following years, with IL ROVESCIO E IL DIRITTO (2005), NEKYIA (2006), ANTIGONE
(co-produced by the Biennale of Venice in 2009), the company’s interest has shifted from the single spectator to the idea of theatre as a place for a collective rite.
Finally, from 2010 to 2016, Lemming has worked on Shakespeare and on the relationship between individual and power. It has produced AMLETO (2010), GIULIETTA E ROMEO (2013), W.S. TEMPEST (2016).
During the years, after having undergone inevitable changes, Teatro del lemming has lived an important generational change: alongside Massimo Munaro (the artistic director) and Fiorella Tommasini (an important actress) there are a lot of young members; for the 70%, the artistic team is now composed by under35.
Among others, Teatro del Lemming has performed in the following European festivals and theatres: FITO (http://www.fitoourense.com/2011/d3.html); GDANSK SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL http://archiwum.festiwalszekspirowski.pl/article/festiwal_szekspirowski/16_festiwal_szekspirowski_2012/spektakle/index.php/id_item_tree/4212fe39de33913e0f462d8141b6e122); ACKER STADT PALAST (http://www.ackerstadtpalast.de/Juliet-and-Romeo-Letters-from-the-liquid-world-Theater); FESTIVAL A PART (http://apart.art.pl/pl/edycja-2017/)
