Contemporary Performance releases APAPP on iPhone, Android and html5


Contemporary Performance is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural version of APAPP, the Annual Performance App, in iOS, Android and HTML5. Available now.

APAPP, the Annual Performance App, a companion app tailored to the spectrum of performance events and festivals held Januarys in New York. APAPP provides listings, maps, calendars and ways for users to network about the festivals and shows they attend while integrating with established social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, foursquare and Contemporary Performance’s site of performance-makers from around the globe.

APAPP (v4.5) allows users to:

  • Discover information about festivals and venues for Under The Radar, Coil 13, American Realness, Other Forces, Prototype Festival, La MaMa Squirts Festival, New York Live Arts Live Artery, and independent events
  • See a compete listing of performances by date or by festival and add shows to your personal or public calendars
  • Like and post your attendance of specific performances to Facebook andTwitter accounts
  • See a map of venues, get directions and check in with foursquare
  • Watch videos related to performances, festivals and dance-tech.tv’s interviews series
  • Follow a twitter feed aggregate of all the festivals and their related hashtags
  • See posts by Culturebot, Performance Club, and Contemporary Performance
  • Listen to Podcasts from OK Radio
  • Network with other people attending the festivals though the app’s integrated social network

Caden Manson is a director, media artist, and teacher. He is co-founder of the media ensemble bigartgroup.com and network, blog, and publisher, contemporaryperformance.com. He has co-created, directed, video- and set designed 18 Big Art Group productions. Manson has shown video installations in Austria, Germany, NYC, and Portland; performed PAIN KILLER in Berlin, Singapore and Vietnam; Taught in Berlin, Rome, Paris, Montreal, NYC, and Bern; the ensemble has been co-produced by the Vienna Festival, Festival d’Automne a Paris, Hebbel Am Ufer, Rome’s La Vie de Festival, PS122, and Wexner Center for The Arts. Caden is a 2001 Foundation For Contemporary Art Fellow, is a 2002 Pew Fellow and a 2011 MacDowell Fellow. Writing has been published in PAJ, Theater Magazine, and Theater der Zeit. Caden is currently an associate professor and graduate directing option coordinator of The John Wells Directing Program at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama.
