MY MOM IS A WOLF, MY DAD…with and by Giraff Graff (aka Camilla Graff Junior) sees the completion of her curatorial programme Crossing Context, Neukölln which for the past two weeks saw artists and activists from Denmark and France, turn the borough of Neukölln into a testing ground for different performance art practices and explorations under the themes of “Identity” and “gender”. Tonight Camilla asks: “What do our inner animals tell us? How can we enter into a dialogue with them?”. During the course of the evening Camilla will share her experience based on autobiographical material, photos, video clips, a collection of plastic animals and family stories. Her dad will also be invited to comment on the material and will be given a new task at each performance. Starts at 19:30-22:00 at kunstraum t27.

Performer Stammtisch is back tonight! After having hosted Margaret Dragu and Dani Ploeger on Monday, today the welcoming Wedding’s gallery space NeuHoch will host an evening of play and subversion with new and old technologies, and other things, by Dani Ploeger & current and former students of the MA in Contemporary Performance Making at Brunel University London, under the tile PERFORMER STAMMTISCH NEW THINGS.
The MA in Contemporary Performance Making is a practice-focused postgraduate programme, which combines critical theoretical inquiry with practice-based research. Students develop work in one or more of Brunel’s specialist areas: ‘writing/directing’, ‘live-art and installation’, and ‘digital performance’. Teaching staff include Johannes Birringer, Sue Broadhurst, Stelarc, Dani Ploeger and Fiona Templeton.

Two more very interesting projects tonight are POEMA SOLO with Mirella Galbiatti, Merce Soler, Monai de Paula Antunes and HOT ACTS (URBAN RITUALS) with Joseph Patricio and Lalo Gomes.
POEMA SOLO, a durational performance which has been presented so far only in theatre platforms, will see the artists taking up a different challenge for the Month of Performance Art-Berlin thus “playing with the elements of the object as well as with the baggage of the whole creative process of this piece without text or script, focusing on the behaviour of both performer and object in relation to the space and the exhaustion of time.” Poema Solo starts at 18:00-22:00 at OKK (free entrance) and will also continue on Wednesday 16th.
HOT ACTS (URBAN RITUALS) is a series of ‘cooked situations’ that generate warmth inside different houses in the Berlin. Assuming the role of cook (Joseph) and movement DJ (Lalo) they will ask the people of Berlin to open their doors and let them create a ‘slightly’ different evening than ordinary. Armed with his kit of spices, Joseph will cook the leftovers or found food in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Lalo provides the music and some cambimba (dance moves) to create a context where the guests can sweat it out. The first of eight Hot Acts events will happen today from 19:00-22:00 at the OffSite Space, Attic, HomeBase Project building, on Thulestraße 54, Prenzlauer Berg/Pankow, Berlin. Prepare to meet friends and strangers. And if you feel like it, bring a housewarming ‘gift’: a smile, a joke, hugs, a song, a guitar, a used object, a performance, a used t-shirt that you think would look good on me, a poem or a food leftover from your own house. Warm jasmine rice with meat and /or vegetarian topping will be offered for free (but donations are welcome), and beer will be sold at a cheap price. For other dinner schedules happening during the Month of Performance Art, please refer to this schedule: http://hotacts.wordpress.com/. For the rest of the dinners happening from May 20 onwards, a reservation is necessary.
