Cross Attic & Holešovická Šachta Gallery invite you to present your artwork at performance art festival Performance Crossings, which will take place on 15th – 18th May 2019 in Prague.

Performance Crossings 2019 is an international festival focusing on performance art and related art forms which for the third year presents artists from all around the world and opens the dialogue between artists and audience, between thoughts and their articulation.

][ DRAMATURGY ][
Performance Crossings’ dramaturgy is based on presentation of various forms of performance art and related media. Through curating of artists working within different fields of performative art and coming from distinct sociocultural and political contexts, the festival creates a platform for mutual discussion about (performative) art, its borders and meaning. Performance art is a broad medium which includes in itself or is closely related to such art forms as live art, body art, long-durational art, site-specific art, installation, video art, dance, theatre or sound art. An important objective of Performance Crossings is to explore similarities and differences of performance art and other, so to say, befriended performative art fields. One of the Performance Crossings’ 2019 programme sections will be dedicated to the Anthropocene phenomena. We understand this topic as a possibility for the self-reflection in the way we think about ourselves, about the art practice and about the consequences of our impacts on the environment.

Due to its relative marginality within the art scene, performance art tends to form communities of people who share the same interest. Despite their international character those groups often do not succeed in receiving a long-term support for their artistic activities. One of the aims of Performance Crossings is to facilitate a platform which would put together dispersed communities, create the base for the common collaboration and raise the awareness between the respective subjects. To form a network which would make the orientation within the performance art scene easier for both the artists and the audience.

• Festival brochure that will include selected list of festivals, organizations, etc whose work is related to the presentation or promotion of performance art
• Possible long-term collaboration within the Cross Attic program
• Accommodation (at local house / artists flat / or arranging discount in neighborhood hotels/hostels)

• Partial cover of material costs
• Letter of Intent and all support for travel / general funds
