Tucked away in the bustling borough of Brooklyn, FourOneOne has been making waves in the world of contemporary performance. This June, they are opening up their residency space for the Living Room series. Artists who work in and around performance art and dance have been rehearsing, reflecting, and restoring in FourOneOne’s second-floor living space for the past year. This month, they’re inviting the public into this creative sanctuary for a series of showings.
The series is an array of artistic expression with enacted drawings, musical acts, film, immersive vocal events, stand-up comedy, and much more on offer. Each artist has invited another to join them, resulting in performances that promise an stimulating interplay of ideas and styles. The line-up includes pairings like Kim Brandt and Walter Dundervill, Malcolm-x Betts and Pink Tacos, and Anh Vo with Crackhead Barney, all set to share their unique artistic voices.
FourOneOne’s commitment to fostering an equitable space extends to the Living Room series’ accessibility. Advanced tickets are available but pay-as-you-wish contributions are welcomed at the door. In keeping with the organization’s ethos, no one will be turned away for lack of funds, and 100% of ticket sales go directly to the artists.
