As a vector of performance, participation has risen in prominence over the last fifty to sixty years to become one of the key concepts in contemporary performance practices. Ant Hampton exemplifies an approach to participation that depends on subtlety, rigor, and imagination. In 2007 he and Silvia Mercuriali were working together as Rotozaza when they coined the term autoteatro.
