In Performance: Hiroaki Umeda (jp) – Holistic Strata (Amsterdam, NL)

Holistic Strata

Festival Julidans (Amsterdam,NL)
09 July 2011, 20:30

Hiraoki Umeda’s performances generate an intense visual experience, characterized by minimalistic subtlety and radical expression combined with technological manipulations of light and sound. In his performance installation Holistic Strata, he translates physical data, generated from his own muscle movements, into computer bites live and in real time. This forms the basis for a dance solo. The alienating ensemble piece 2.repulsion, on the other hand, is pure dance. Three urban dancers show their physical tour de force. Hip-hop and modern butoh together in a stylized, empty space.
