Description Of Opportunity:
VAFA 2018 – the sixth Video Art For All International Video Art Festival will be held at Casa Garden this coming November. Launched in 2010 and organized by Orient Foundation and Art For All Society the festival has continuously received an overwhelming response to its International Open Call with submissions from the 4 corners of the world. VAFA has also grown in the format during the years partnering with other video art festivals and guest curators for extra competition screenings. In 2012 the festival started to be a biennial and with that started to include known artists in the field to present their work in Macau – names such as AES+F, John Baldessari, Laurence Weiner, Harun Farocki, William Wegman, Miranda July, Zhang Huan, Cui Xiuwen and Xing Danwen are among this international voices. The open call for this year festival’s is now open accepting submissions till 30 of August. A number of words will be selected for the main exhibition while other works may be included in screening sessions. The First Prize winner receives 1000$US and is invited to come to Macau to receive the award and share his work in a talk with his flight fee and accommodation also covered by VAFA. How To Apply:
Regulations
1. Requirements of the entry:
1.1 Submitted videos must have been completed after January 2016.
1.2 Running time must not exceed 15 minutes.
1.3 Non-English spoken videos should have English subtitles.
2. Submission of the entry form and Delivery of the entry:
2.1 Videos can be submitted online with the entry form, each submission should have one entry form.
2.2 Only AVI, MOV or MPEG files via free upload service such as www.sendspace.com, www.wetransfer.com or www.dropbox.com would be accepted.
2.3 The best resolution file of the video file should be sent. Low-quality video files have fewer chances of being selected.
2.4 Videos without an application form will not be accepted for the competition.

4. Submission deadline:
The submission deadline is 30th of August 2018.
5. Exhibition date and venue:
The exhibition will run in November, 2018, at Casa Garden together with “Autumn Salon 2018” – Macau Oriental Foundation.
6. Jury:
6.1 All submissions will be selected by a group of international curators and artists.
6.2 Jury’s decisions are final and no appeal will be accepted.
7. Awards:
7.1 The best video will be awarded with USD$ 1000. The awarded artist will be invited to present the work at the exhibition opening.
7.2 Two merits will be awarded with USD$ 500.
8. Criteria:
Video Art today is recognized as an autonomous art form therefore we have no fixed criteria concerning work theme or form as long as it can be understood as contemporary art.
9. Numbers of the entry:
3 videos (Maximum) can be submitted from each artist.
10. Others:
10.1 The festival entry is free.
10.2 Selected works will be used in research work and non-commercial screenings related to the event.
10.3 Applicant should accept that an insert from the video, 30 seconds long at most, can be presented for Festival promotion purposes.
10.4 Applicant is responsible for all the copyright. The signing of the form is a guarantee of the originality of the work. Any breach on legal terms and the applicant will be disqualified.
10.5 The organizer reserves the right to interpret or amend the regulations and details of the Festival.
