Lightlab Performance Series is an artist-run performance series that provides platforms for diverse voices in experimental performance. Founded in 2013 by Taylor Knight and David Bernabo and now curated with Anna Thompson, Lightlab is an event series meant to encourage local dance and performance artists to experiment with form, composition, improvisation, and context. Over four years and 16 events with local and national artists, the series continues to present avant-garde performance artists and has expanded to include music performance, video screenings, and art lectures. Past artists include Jasmine Hearn, Jil Stifel, DS Kinsel, Maree ReMalia, Celeste Neuhaus, Kensaku Shinohara, Christiana Axelson, and s+vois (Shantelle Jackson). Lightlab has taken place in Pittsburgh venues such as Wood Street Galleries, SPACE gallery, The Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University, PearlArts Studios, and The Space Upstairs.
