Wirtualne Muzeum Antropocenu announces an international open call for our next exhibition “Niezaspokojony Głód//Endless Hunger”. From March 15 – April 3rd, 2021 we invite artists — regardless of background, education and nationality to submit works to our inaugural exhibition.

Consumption
1. the action of using up a resource to satisfy a need
2. the action of eating or drinking something

We consume food, but also goods, images, content, relationships. However, do we consume only ever when we try to satisfy a need? Is consumption still a means to an end or has it transformed into the end goal itself?

Consumption, old as life on Earth itself, at its core is the fuel powering the charging Anthropocene machine: make more, faster, stronger, better.

Consumption is also production.
Production is also waste: in times of cheap goods and products we are incapable of consuming all that we produce.

I the paradox reality of mass consumption of all kinds of products by the late capitalist society, we want to pause for a moment to examine the act of consumption itself.

What creatures are hiding in the back of your fridge/pantry/closet? Purchased to be consumed but long forgotten as new, better, shinier items emerged on the horizon ripe and ready for consumption?

Could consumption be an act of creation? Could it be an opportunity for critical reflection and artistic consideration?
We believe it can be.

From March 15 – April 3rd, 2021 we invite artists — regardless of background, education and nationality to submit works to WMA’s next exhibition “Niezaspokojony głód//Endless Hunger”.
This time we want to focus on food consumption and we encourage to submit works inspired by food consumption.

The exhibition will be created in partnership with Kupuj Odpowiedzialnie foundation, run by sustainable consumption experts.
