Opportunity: Call for Lecturers
Where: https://ecc-performanceart.eu/
When:
Deadline: January 15 2022

Description Of Opportunity:

Call for Lecturers!

We are expanding our program for 2022 and are looking for innovative course proposals in the field of performance art practice and theory!

ECC Performance Art is an online teaching and research platform dedicated to strengthening the discipline of performance art by providing artists, scholars, and curators with a range of tools and insights for their professional growth. ECC Performance Art offers an extensive online course program related to key aspects of performance art practice, its theoretical investigation, as well as its documentation, and forms of curation and exhibition. All of our courses run for a duration of one month with 2hours weekly teaching time live on Zoom. In addition, the ECC Performance Art Workroom, a virtual classroom, offers the possibility to exchange with students, share course materials, projects and links, give and receive assignments, and watch the recordings of the live sessions. Our courses are kept small in order to allow for sufficient attention on each participant and to give creativity and exchange enough room to sprout. You can find our current list of courses and examples of course descriptions and syllabi here: https://ecc-performanceart.eu/coursesandworkshops/courses.

As a lecturer for ECC Performance Art, we do not want you to ‘teach’ in the classical sense, therewith enforcing any hierarchical structures and traditional ways of knowledge transfer. We want you to inspire creativity, to incite critical thinking, to help participants explore new avenues in practice or research, and help forge a community of performance art professionals for the future. We do not require previous teaching experience, degrees, or fancy awards but a commitment to your course and group of participants.

For our new additions, we are specifically interested in global performance art practices, understudied fields of performance art theory, contemporary issues of the field, and innovative approaches to creating performance art. We do offer a salary of EUR1000 per course and the chance to connect with a great group of performance artists and scholars from all over the globe.

How To Apply:

If you are interested, please email a course description of no more than 250 words together with a rough weekly syllabus, a short bio, a few sentences about how you see your topic fit into the contemporary context of performance art, and what you want your participants to take from it. Please send materials compiled into ONE PDF document to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is January 15th and notifications of accepted proposals will be emailed by January 23rd.
