Description Of Opportunity:

INVERSE 2023 is a three-day performance art festival in Bentonville, Arkansas. Employing liveness, experimentation, and radical approaches to the important issues of our moment, the festival seeks artists and projects who are in constant interrogation of material, form, and gesture to offer new ideas and perspectives to how we experience the world. The festival is presented by the Momentary, a decommissioned cheese factory turned contemporary art space, and satellite to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

The inclusive performance art platform was co-founded by Momentary Curator of Performance Cynthia Post Hunt and Chief Curator of the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art Emma Saperstein. INVERSE strives to foster local dialogue about performance on an international scale and build a community of performance artists and supporters, providing opportunities for performance work to be cultivated in the community. The annual INVERSE Performance Art Festival began in 2016 and has been warmly received in its two host locations: Northwest Arkansas and San Luis Obispo, California.

INVERSE continues to offer an open call for proposals to broaden the network of artists making and performing in Northwest Arkansas. We welcome proposals no matter your experience or practice. We will be accepting proposals for the 2023 INVERSE Performance Art Festival beginning Wednesday, June 13, at 10 a.m. and ending Wednesday, July 12, at 11:59 p.m. Festival dates are November 2-4, 2023.
