Why The Baryshnikov Arts Center Residency Matters

The Baryshnikov Arts Center Residency gives performing artists a defined period of concentrated studio access in New York City. Artists can receive up to 48 hours of exclusive studio time per week, creating a substantial working period within a one-week or two-week residency.

The program combines that studio access with a $2,000 stipend to offset expenses, professional documentation, and an opportunity for an invited showing of work in progress. Artists considering the program should account for travel and accommodation costs when assessing the stipend because those expenses remain the artist’s responsibility. International applicants also assume responsibility for visas, housing, travel, and living expenses.
