In Performance: La Pocha Nostra’s Live Art Laboratory (Tucson, AZ, USA)

La Pocha Nostra’s Live Art Laboratory will be held in Tucson, Arizona from January 31 through February 11, 2013. Gómez-Peña and the members of La Pocha Nostra will host their legendary winter performance workshop which is considered La Pocha’s most important pedagogic endeavor of the year. The project is being co-produced with Michele Ceballos Michot and long-time Pocha Nostra colleague Natalie Brewster Nguyen and held at Cirque Roots, a circus collective run arts space in downtown Tucson. The European Festivals Association (EFA) is delighted to announce the next three Ateliers for Young Festival Managers: Beirut, Lebanon, in autumn 2013; Edinburgh, UK, in spring 2014; and Kampala, Uganda, in autumn 2014. Each of the three editions will be hosted by an excellent international festival in a unique cultural setting. Yaddo Founded in 1900 by the financier Spencer Trask and his wife Katrina, herself a poet, Yaddo is an artists’ community located on a 400-acre estate in Saratoga Springs, New York. Its mission is to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment. Sibiu International Theatre Festival is a performing arts festival held annually in Transylvania, Romania. In terms of audience numbers it’s the third largest theatre festival in the world.   IFTR/FIRT runs two annual essay competitions known as New Scholars’ Prize and Helsinki Prize. There is no set theme for these competitions; rather, candidates are encouraged to submit work drawing on their current research. To apply for either the New Scholars’ Prize or the Helsinki Prize, applicants must be classified as a new scholar by the Federation. A New Scholar is defined as a graduate student or post-doctoral researcher whose PhD has been completed less than three years ago, or a researcher without a PhD who has been in an academic post for less than three years. Membership of IFTR/FIRT is not necessary to enter the competition, but prize winners will need to join the Federation to attend the conference or receive mentoring.
