The artist gives abstract, alchemical instructions through a microphone for an actor to perform a variety of complex “big entrances” into the theatre. The confrontation between this otherworldly visitor and the public initiates an elaborate language game that influences the different degrees of absorption of the audience.
Artist bio
Michael Portnoy (Washington D.C., 1971), grounds his research on humour theory and the possibilities of performance and experimental theatre, staging elaborate situations where the audience’s rationality and spontaneity are defied through complex behaviour games. He lives and works in New York City.
